Dr Ramesh is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon at Surgi-TEN Specialists, with a sub-specialty interest in shoulder, knee and arthroscopic sports surgery.
Dr Ramesh obtained his MBBS from the National University of Singapore and completed his Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery in Singapore. He underwent Advanced Surgical Training in Orthopaedic Surgery and obtained his Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Trauma and Orthopaedics. He was awarded the HMDP government scholarship to undertake a clinical fellowship in Shoulder and Knee Surgery at the Santry Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin, Ireland.
He was then awarded the Tan Tock Seng Scholarship to pursue a Sports Fellowship in Knee Surgery at Hospital Quiron in Barcelona, Spain under the supervision of Professor Ramon Cugat, who is a consultant for the Spanish soccer players. As part of this training, Dr Ramesh also spent time with the Mutualidad de Futbolistas Catalanes orthopaedic teams taking care of the soccer players in Barcelona and the Spanish province of Catalunya. He also completed a Fellowship in Shoulder Surgery at Hospital Del Mar in Barcelona. During his overseas fellowship training, Dr Ramesh was trained in arthroscopic joint reconstruction and joint replacement surgeries.
He has demonstrated a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring of both undergraduate students and post-graduate doctors. He had been conferred the appointment of clinical Senior Lecturer and then, Adjunct Assistant Professor of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He was a faculty member of the National Healthcare Group Residency Program and served as the Chairman of the National Healthcare Group Hand Surgery Residency Program Evaluation Committee. He has also given lectures and demonstrated surgery techniques at numerous international workshops and training courses for knee and shoulder surgery. As Fellowship Supervisor of Sports Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, he has mentored clinical fellows from India, the Philippines and Malaysia.
Dr Ramesh has published articles in international peer reviewed journals. He has also presented his work at podium presentations in international conferences.
He is extremely passionate about community service and humanitarian efforts. He has volunteered with the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation to perform pro-bono surgery in Indonesia. He has been involved in Indosin Bhakti Sosial (ISBS) with the Singapore Navy, to provide primary healthcare to villages in the Riau Islands, Indonesia. He has been awarded the Minister of Health Award for humanitarian relief work provided for the Yogjakarta earthquake in 2006.
Dr Ramesh is currently a member of the medical committee of the Football Association of Singapore. He is also the chairman of St John Association’s Jurong Centre.
